Introduction
The experimental research study is aimed at the investigation of the association
between the identity development and the social, cognitive, biological and emotional
experiences of aselected cohort. According to numerous research studies, itcan be stated that
the identity characteristics of variables of a person is associated with the perceived
relationship qualities of the person (Akrout & Nagy, 2018 ). In other words, itcan be said that
this experimental research study is aimed at the identification of the association between the
identity status features of aperson and the perceived relationship status. When aperson is in
adolescence, the most important work that they must complete is establishing their identity.
This stage must be directly linked to the activities of searching and learning (Chiniara &
Bentein, 2018 ). Identity creation has been demonstrated to aid a person’s transition into
maturity. The potential for reciprocal openness, closeness, and establishing healthy
interactions with others has been linked to the walkthrough process. Researchers have
discovered that merging with closeness as a sign of conceptual links between all of these
phases has piqued their curiosity. According to research, there is a clear link between
attitudes toward the development of intimate connections and the attitudes toward the
development of intimate relationships.
When an individual is in adolescence stage of their lives, identity is the most
significant task of the individual during adolescence. This stage must be specifically
associated with the searching and learning processes (Curran et al., 2018 ). The formation of
identity has been found to help a person walk through their adulthoods. The walkthrough
process has been found to be associated with capacity for mutual openness, intimacy and
having proper relationships with others.
The interest of researchers has been mainly found to be associated with merging with
intimacy as an indicator of conceptual relationships between all these stages. Research

findings have shown that there is a direct relationship between the attitudes toward the
development of intimate relationships (Huguley et al., 2019 ). However, it has been observed
that attitudes are also related to intimate moratorium, relations, identity and diffusion. In
order to determine the predictive role of every identity status, multiple regression analyses
were used in previous research studies.
Erikson ’stheory can thus be stated to have been justified by the previous research
findings. Another research study, which was performed by agroup of researchers, has stated
that moratorium and foreclosure scales were negatively related to the relationship quality of a
person (Jacobson et al., 2018 ). Therefore, it can be concluded that these two scales are
needed for understanding the negative measures of association between identity status and
relationship quality. Thus, it can be said that there are relationships between the measures
chosen for the research study and perceived relationship quality. On the other hand, it has
been observed that this research study is associated with the aim of finding the relationship
between either of the identity factors and perceived relationship quality.
The need for this research study has been found to be increasing since the
identification of various identities in people, at different stages of their lives and their
associations with the perceived relationship qualities (Rather et al., 2018 ). The findings of the
research will show whether a specific identity factor has any role to play in altering the
quality of relationship between two people or not. In other words, it can be said that the
research study is specifically associated with finding the association between identity factors
and the perceived quality of relationships in the life of an individual.
The experimental research study is placed on two significant hypothesis – the two
selected hypotheses are –
4 BIOLOGY
Hypothesis 1–Among those who self-identify as adolescents and young adults, there will be
a statistically significant association between identity status and perceived relationship
quality
Hypothesis 2- Among those who self-identify as adolescents and young adults, there will be a
statistically significant association between identity status and psychological wellbeing”.

Method
Research design
Primary experimental research design was selected for the paper. In other words, it
can be stated that data has been collected from live participants and analysed in address the
research hypotheses.
Participant selection
Only students of semester 1 was selected in order to complete the research study
learning activity. More than 1250 students were enrolled in the research study. Students from
every field of academics were selected for the research study.
Data collection
The first section of the survey has been found to include the questions about the
participants according to their age, gender and enrolment status. The life period was the
subsample for the first hypothesis, chosen for the research study. Young adults and
adolescents were the sub-samples of the research study. Both the sub-samples were
considered for the first hypothesis of the research study.
Data analysis
Chi square test was used in order to statistically analyse the relationship between and
identity status factor –friendship and perceived quality of relationship. Since both the subsets
of samples were used together and the general relationship was found out, no specific sample
size was stated in the discussion section of the study.

Ethical considerations
None of the participants were forced to take part in the research study. Every
participant of the research study was first provided with an informed consent and the data
collection was initiated. Ethical approval was taken from the respective authority.

The chi square value has been found to be very high above the expected value and
thus the relationship can be stated to be non-significant.
